yoga and meditation workshops
incorporating meditation into your yoga practice
many yoga students want to develop a personal meditation practice – and
for good reason! meditation has been proven to have a variety of benefits including
stress reduction, improved physical health, improved mental health, and greater
clarity and strength of mind. it is also a precise tool for cultivating spiritual
development. this workshop, for yoga teachers and students alike, will give
you the basic tools to begin a yoga meditation practice and to assist others
in pursing a practice.
yoga therapy – how to use asanas to heal
while the west has benefited mostly from yoga’s overall strengthening,
tonifying and relaxing effects, the range of symptoms that yoga therapy has
traditionally addressed moves far beyond muscular-skeletal issues. under the
supervision of skilled teachers, students of yoga therapy have cured themselves
of a variety of ailments and chronic diseases. this workshop will help you
develop a basic yoga therapy routine that can improve specific conditions and
enhance your overall health.
yama
and niyama – the foundation of yoga
traditionally, yoga students were not taught the secrets of yoga practice until
they had studied and practiced the yamas and niyamas (yoga’s ethical
principles) for several years. how are the yamas and niyamas essential for
success on the spiritual path? this workshop, which uses experiential exercises,
journaling, socio-drama, asanas and examples from participants own life experiences,
will help you understand the yamas and niyamas and use them to further your
personal growth.
experiencing bhakti
the bhagavad giita describes three main paths of yoga: knowledge, action and
devotion. devotion is considered the most important for achieving spiritual
success and yet, particularly in the west, it is least understood. this workshop
will include an overview of the devotional or bhakti tradition, and exploration
of the meaning of devotion for workshop participants, and some devotional practices
such as visualization, chanting, kiirtan, and meditation.
